Figure 6 compares the ratchet hoop strain observed in (Jorum's test with the IHj KH uniaxial and plane strain models generated in the present work. It is clearly seen that the test results are nearly bracketed by IH and KH generalized plane strain solutions with IH providing the upper limit and KH the lower limit. The corresponding uniaxial hardening solutions overestimate the observed strain by more than 100%. Also,the perfect plasticity model is seen to be extremely conservative. It should be noted that time-depenent creep strains which arise during hold periods are not considered here.
