Discussion The data show that bioluminescence changes seasonally in the Southern California Bight coastal waters with a maximum and minimum signal in the spring and fall in SDB (Figures 2,14,17b,19a). A winter maximum and summer minimum in bioluminescence was measured at SCI (Figure 2, 17a). In SDB and SCI, we observed a change in the dinoflagellate species composition over a year and its contribution to bioluminescence.
