Because personal (informal) relationships are very important to living and coping in small towns and rural communities, maintenance of some kind of social order is essential for individual and community survival.

She teaches across the MSW curriculum. She is the author of Social Work in Schools: Principles and Practice and has authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on school social work, mental health, and spirituality.
