The UFO sighting occurred at 12:10 CST, April 16, 1968. The Ford Company's Lockheed Jet Star, N-326K, en route from San Antonio to Detroit, was flying at 35,000 feet, on Jet Airway 21. As it was passing over Austin, Texas, the co-pilot spotted a round, silvery object through the overhead window on his side. Both pilots thought at first it was a large weather balloon, about 45,000 feet above them. "It looked like twice the size of a DC-8 jet airliner. . our guess would be 500 - 600 feet in diameter," the pilot told NICAP.
