The new spirit will make possible a new unity among God’s people beyond anything they ever had before. God will also take out the heart of stone that was insensitive and hardened to the Word and the Spirit of the Lord. ) Then as they walk in obedience and faith, they will truly be God’s people, and He will be their God (11:20). These the Father keeps under His own authority (Acts 1:6, 7). In other words, they are none of our business. ) It is not strange, then, that John fails to distinguish between the time of the baptism in the Spirit and the baptism in fire.
